Former Vols player A.J. Johnson surrenders on aggravated rape charge

KNOXVILLE - Former University of Tennessee linebacker A.J. Johnson surrendered today on one count of aggravated rape.

He was booked at the Knox County Detention Facility, according to court records.

Bond and additional charges were not immediately available.

Johnson and Michael Williams were suspended from the University of Tennessee football team in November amid a police investigation into an alleged rape and sexual assault.

The two were indicted by a Knox County grand jury on Thursday.
