The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team earned a No. 5 preseason ranking according to Lindy's Magazine on Wednesday, which is the highest ranking ever for the program.

The Mocs had No. 8 rankings in each the Sporting News and Athlon polls that have been previously released.

The lofty ranking only helps to increase the buildup for the team's season opener on Sept. 5 against Jacksonville State at 6 at Finley Stadium. The Gamecocks are ahead of the Mocs in the Sporting News and Athlon polls, but sit a spot behind at No. 6 in Lindy's.

The SportsNetwork.com and FCS coaches polls will be released soon. They are the only two polls recognized by the NCAA.
