The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga volleyball team added another highlight to its standout season Sunday, topping East Tennessee State University 3-1 in the Southern Conference tournament semifinals in Cullowhee, N.C. The Mocs (26-5), the tourney's No. 1 seed after winning the regular-season championship, will face second-seeded Furman in the title match at 6 p.m. today at Western Carolina's Ramsey Center. It's the first time since 2001 the Mocs have played for the SoCon volleyball title. UTC coach Travis Filar said in a school release that going for the championship is "what we've been dreaming of all year." UTC won the opening set 25-18 before ETSU took the second by the same score, but the Mocs responded with 25-21 and 25-18 victories to close out the match. "That was awesome to be able to finish the way we did and really set the tone in sets three and four," Filar said. "We worked to really impose how we wanted to play and not worry so much about the other side." Briana Reid had 12 kills and 17 digs, while Allie Davenport had 20 kills and 18 digs and Madison Bergren finished with 48 assists. UTC last won the tournament title in 1998.

Wrestling

* John Lampe (184 pounds), Michael Pongracz (141) and Kamaal Shakur (157) finished first, and seven other UTC wrestlers also placed Sunday at North Carolina State's Wolfpack Open in Raleigh. Finishing second for the Mocs were Chris Debien (133), Jared Johnson (285) and Dominic Lampe (165), while 174-pounders Justin Lampe and Sean Mappes shared third in their bracket. Scottie Boykin (197) was fourth and McCoy Newberg (184) was sixth for the Mocs, who are off until Dec. 10, when they compete at Virginia Military Institute. Their next home dual is against Ohio at 6 p.m. on Dec. 18 at Maclellan Gym.

Football

* The Edmonton Eskimos topped the Calgary Stampeders 45-31 Sunday in the West Division final of the Canadian Football League playoffs, setting up a Grey Cup showdown with the Ottawa Redblacks, who beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 35-28 in the East Division final. South Pittsburg native Chris Jones, head coach of the Eskimos, will try to win the CFL's equivalent of the Super Bowl in his second season leading the team after going 12-6 but losing the West final last year. Jones isn't the only area link to the Eskimos, who are 14-4 this year. On his staff is former North Jackson High School head coach Phillip Lolley, who handles the linebackers, and Adarius Bowman, the former Notre Dame High School player who caught one of three touchdown passes thrown by Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly on Sunday. Reilly ran for two more touchdowns.

Running

* Lee University's Harold Smith from Bradley Central High School finished 57th (45th for points purposes) in the NCAA Division II cross country meet Saturday in Joplin, Mo. Fellow sophomore Seth Eagleson was 66th in points in the 10-kilometer race, and the Flames placed 26th as a team.

Basketball

* Union University coach Mark Campbell said early signee Megan Lewis from Silverdale Baptist Academy "is one of the best 3-point shooters in the state of Tennessee." In an announcement release, Campbell said Lewis "is also a perfect fit for our program because of her character. She wants to give her best effort in every area of life."

* Georgia Northwestern Technical College's men's team won 97-88 on the road Saturday against Tennessee's Crown College in Powell, with the Bobcats holding off their hosts after the lead was cut to two points inside the final 20 seconds. Darrius Fugh (25 points, 10 rebounds, 10-for-10 free-throw shooting), Christopher Ellis (24 points, 16 rebounds) and Tyler Shropshire (15 points, three assists, two steals) led the Bobcats (4-2), who were 23-for-27 from the foul line and led 37-33 at halftime.
