Two Hamilton Heights Christian Academy basketball players are taking part in events this weekend in conjunction with the NBA All-Star game in Toronto. Hawks junior Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is in the NBA Basketball Without Borders Global Camp today through Sunday. Nike is the presenting partner for the camp, and Gilgeous-Alexander plays for the grassroots program Nike Canada U-Play, according to a Hamilton Heights release. He currently is ranked by ESPN as the 40th top high school prospect in the United States for the class of 2017 and has committed to the University of Florida. Junior teammate Nickel Alexander-Walker, who already has 13 NCAA Division I scholarship offers, is part of Under Armour's Canada Elite grassroots program and will be taking part in a skills academy led by the Toronto Raptors' Terrence Ross and reigning NBA MVP Steph Curry. Both players from the Chattanooga school will be involved in other All-Star-related activities. Hamilton Heights is 22-3 this season.

* Nationally fifth-ranked Union College vaulted No. 13 Tennessee Wesleyan into first place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference men's basketball standings with a 94-87 win Thursday in Athens. J.D. Tucker and Nick Riley scored 20 and 19 points for the Kentucky team (23-4, 14-1), while TWC (22-2, 14-2) got 28 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks from Leland Robinson, 18 points from Trey Suttles, 13 from Matt Brown and five assists from Tre Tiller. Wesleyan (12-8, 12-6) won the women's game 75-71 behind 15 points and four assists from Jara Gasper, 13 points apiece for Sarah McKinnon and Madison Walkup, 12 by Destanie Smith and nine rebounds and six steals from Hunter Simpson.

* Keevin Tyus had 21 points and eight rebounds as Lee University edged visiting West Alabama 66-64 in Gulf South men's basketball Thursday night and pulled close to getting in the league tournament. Levi Woods, Chase Cullen and Rantavious Gilbert also scored in double figures for the Flames (8-15, 6-12). Despite 28 points by Erin Walsh and 16 points and nine rebounds from Shelby Brown, the Lee women lost 78-71. Haris Price had 15 points and five assists for the Lady Flames (16-7, 13-5).

* Dalton State rallied from a 23-7 deficit to defeat Coastal Georgia 67-60 in Southern States Athletic Conference men's basketball Thursday. Jalen Robinson scored 15 points and Marcel Hawkins and Reed Dungan had 14 each for the Roadrunners, who spurted to a 32-29 halftime lead and then fell behind 44-40 before rolling to victory. Rudy Winters scored 10 in the win.

* Megan Billingsby had 27 points, 18 rebounds and three steals in Bryan's 68-47 women's AAC basketball win Wednesday in Dayton. She made four of her six 3-point shots. Brandon Cole scored 26 points and Robert Troino had 13 points and six assists in the Bryan men's 82-73 loss.

* Ny'Asia Holmes had 20 points and seven rebounds as Cleveland State's Lady Cougars pulled off a huge TCCAA basketball victory Wednesday at Roane State, 87-62. Roane (17-8, 12-2) won by three in their meeting in Cleveland, but Cleveland State (18-4, 11-2) led throughout the rematch and dominated the fourth quarter. JLynn Majors had 16 points and five assists in the win. Led by Quincy Poitier with 20 points, Roane (9-13, 5-9) won the men's game 73-65 after trailing by 14 at halftime. Darrion Leslie had 19 points and Jahaad Lyons and Lawrence Castor added 17 and 16 for the Cougars (8-11, 6-7), Lyons with five 3s.

* Larry Spicer's 16 points and nine rebounds led Chattanooga State to a 71-68 TCCAA men's basketball victory Wednesday at Walters State, with Joe Gordon and DaV Moore adding 13 and 12 points. Nationally 11th-ranked Walters won the women's game 75-47 and is now 25-0. Teondra Crawford scored 13 points in defeat.

* Freshman Jada Hubbard from Heritage High School had 15 points and four steals and Dade County's Erika Woodfin scored nine points in Reinhardt University's 76-57 AAC win Wednesday against Columbia.

* Retired coach Dan Trotter, who was inducted into the Cleveland State Athletics Hall of Fame last year, is being added to the TCCAA Hall of Fame on Feb. 20 at halftime of the Cougars' 2 p.m. home game against Dyersburg State. The 2016 Cleveland State hall induction brunch is the same day at 10:30 a.m. at Cleveland Country Club. Trotter's Cougars were 58-24 during his 1984-87 stint and achieved the men's program's first national ranking and first Eastern Division championship of the state association. He previously coached eight years at Martin Methodist and is in the Pulaski school's hall of fame as well. From 1987 to 2008 he was a high school administrator and then an elementary school principal, being named Georgia's elementary principal of the year in 2007.
