Capacity crowds for spring football games were common when Kirby Smart was an Alabama defensive assistant under Nick Saban.

Smart is challenging Georgia to do the same. The new head coach of the Bulldogs spoke during halftime of Saturday night's Georgia-Arkansas basketball game in Stegeman Coliseum.

"We expect to see this same passionate energy in Sanford Stadium at the spring game," Smart told the crowd. "We are going to challenge you. We want 93,000 fans to come out to the spring game to support us."

Alabama packed Bryant-Denny Stadium with 92,138 fans in April 2007, when Saban and Smart had been in Tuscaloosa for just a few months.

The 2016 G-Day game is set for April 16, which is the Saturday after the Masters. The 2015 G-Day game drew a record crowd of 46,815.
