Ben Oldham, who has nearly 40 years of experience in the Southeastern Conference football officiating program, will be the league's inaugural replay coordinator.

Oldham will work each Saturday inside the SEC's video command center at the league office in Birmingham, Ala., and he will report to league coordinator of football officials Steve Shaw.

Oldham will help provide oversight for the league's collaborative instant replay process that is being used for the first time this season.

"As we expand instant replay in the SEC, we felt it was important to have someone with an extensive résumé of both on-the-field and replay-booth experience to help manage the process," Shaw said Tuesday in a release.

"Ben Oldham brings four decades worth of officiating experience in both of those areas, and I am excited to have him serve in this role as we embark on a new era of instant replay in the SEC. This is another important and positive step as we strive to enhance the conference's football officiating program."

Oldham worked the BCS championship game after the 1999 season, when Florida State defeated Virginia Tech, and has officiated 24 bowl games either on the field or in the replay booth. His most recent replay assignment was the national semifinal between Oregon and Florida State following the 2014 season.
