Rich Kalina, a freshman on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team, has asked for and been granted his release from the program.
"We are in possession of Trey's release letter from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga," his father Richard posted Wednesday on his Facebook page. "This is a requirement by the NCAA in order for us to talk with any other program.
"Trey's recruiting is officially back open as of today..."
Kalina, a 7-foot center, was a three-star prospect that was highly regarded coming out of high school. He chose the Mocs over La Salle, Appalachian State and Liberty. The Acworth, Ga., native, appeared in four games and scored four points and grabbed seven rebounds in his only season with the program.
