The Lee University men's golf team won the UNA Spring Classic in a playoff Tuesday at the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals course in Muscle Shoals, Ala. Lee tied host North Alabama in the 15-team event at 865 for 54 holes, and the Flames' Peyton Sliger was fourth individually and made the all-tournament team with a 213. Corey Sheppard tied for eighth at 217, Shea Sylvester tied for 10th at 218, Taylor Davis tied for 12th at 220 and Adam Wright tied for 16th at 221.

* The UTC women's golfers finished fifth out of 12 teams in the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate tournament Tuesday at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Ga. The Mocs shot a 54-hole 910, two shots behind Middle Tennessee State, which was led by former Walker Valley High School standout Avery George in an individual tie for seventh at 225. Jenna Burris from St. Andrew's-Sewanee tied for 23rd at 230 for MTSU, which was two shots behind third-place Illinois. Texas Tech won at 890 with Augusta at 900. UTC's Emily McLennan tied for 12th at 226 and Megan Woods, Monica San Juan and Isabella Loza tied for 26th at 231 with Cris Perez at 233.

Baseball/Softball

* The Lee baseball team scored nine runs in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday and won 12-2 at Young Harris. Chris Adams was 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs and Ty Broady homered and doubled and also batted in three runs for Lee (17-13), whle Ben Holland was 3-for-3 and walked three times and Geremy Walton was 2-for-3 and scored twice.

* Chattanooga State will be holding its spring sports tailgate party Friday from noon to 2 p.m., with the baseball team hosting Southwest Tennessee at 2 and the softball team facing the Memphis school in a doubleheader beginning at 4. The tailgating is free and open to the public, and tickets to either or both sports cost $5. Tailgaters may reserve spaces by emailing joyce.stakely@chattanoogastate.edu or calling 697-2652. Next Tuesday, the baseball Tigers will be facing the Chattanooga Lookouts in an exhibition game for the 11th year in a row. That is set for 6:15 p.m. at AT&T Field, and tickets can be bought in advance for $5 by calling 697-2418 or emailing greg.dennis@chattanoogastate.edu.

* Lillie McCrary homered in each game, bringing in five runs, as the Chattanooga State softball team won 11-3 and 9-0 against Georgia Highlands on Tuesday. Morgan Boggess pitched a four-hit shutout after Labrisha Washington allowed only one earned run in the first game. Colbie Thomas was 4-for-6 with a triple, three RBIs and four runs scored and Shannon Plese was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs for the Lady Tigers (25-9). In the first game, Jennah McElheney was 2-for-2 with two doubles, Kayla Logoleo went 3-for-3 with two runs and Devan Brown 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

* Bryan College lost 1-0 and won 6-0 against Brenau in NAIA softball Tuesday in Dayton. Kaitie Sims pitched a four-hitter and Katelyn Bowen was 1-for-2 with an RBI double in the win for Bryan (17-13), while Gracie Dorr had a four-hitter for Brenau (17-16), followed by a three-hit shutout for Jessica Rathje. Kelsey Payne from East Hamilton was 1-for-2 in each game and hit a two-run homer and scored twice in Brenau's win.

* Arts & Sciences graduate Brianna Taylor homered and pitched a three-hitter with one earned run allowed as Lincoln Memorial beat Tusculum 10-2 in the first game of a South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader Tuesday. Taylor (10-8) pitched the last three innings of the 5-4 second-game win.

Track & Field

* Bryan College's Sarah White and Grif Rutherford were the women's 800-meter winner and men's 800 runner-up last weekend at the Falcon Classic track and field meet at Montevallo, Ala. The 13 participating teams represented mostly NCAA Division II schools, but NAIA member Bryan got top-10 finishes also from Hannah Schroeder in the women's 1500 and Jessica Stockton and Tyler Boone in the 5ks. And sprinter James Eliezer set school records in the 100 (11.26 seconds) and 200 (22.43).
