Running

* Tyner senior Alexis Wilson has signed to continue her track and field career at Liberty University in NCAA Division I. The Class A/AA state champion in the 100- and 200-meter dashes as a freshman and the 100 and 4x100-relay runner-up as a sophomore, Wilson came back most of the way from injury last spring and finished third in the 100 and fourth in the 4x100. Her best 100 time is 11.93 seconds. "Liberty is getting a very athletic young lady and strong sprinter," Tyner coach Kelvin Watkins said. Wilson, who wants to be a nurse and also had considerable interest from Shorter, Union University and Alabama A&M, said she picked Liberty because "it has a great team and great coaches, and its nursing program is outstanding - and it's a Christian school." She spent 13 years in the Chattanooga Jets AAU program before joining the new Chattanooga Thunder club.
