Georgia announced this morning that fifth-year senior quarterback Greyson Lambert will start Saturday's opener against North Carolina in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic.

Lambert, a 6-foot-5, 220-pounder from Jesup, Ga., made 12 starts last season for the Bulldogs, completing 162 of 256 passes (63.3 percent) for 1,959 yards with 12 touchdowns and only two interceptions. The Bulldogs won 10 of their 12 games with Lambert, who arrived in Athens last summer as a graduate transfer from Virginia.

Touted true freshman Jacob Eason received most of the first-team reps last week in practice, but first-year coach Kirby Smart said that was because he did not have any first-team opportunities as an early enrollee this spring. Lambert worked with the first team in the portions of practice Monday and Tuesday that were open to the media.
