EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team had an overnight bus ride, but the trip probably didn't seem so long.

The wrestling Mocs broke a four-match losing streak, improved to 2-0 in the Southern Conference and evened their road record at 2-2 with a 29-10 victory Saturday evening at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.

The 29 points are the most the Mocs have scored since a 41-5 victory over VMI in their conference opener on Nov. 10.

UTC won eight of the 10 matches Saturday, getting a pin from 184-pound Bryce Carr and major decisions from Alonzo Allen (125) and 11th-ranked heavyweight Jared Johnson.

Johnson's win was his 20th of the season and improved his career record to 76-26. Carr, ranked 18th nationally, got his 18th win of the season. Those two, along with Allen, Chris DeBien (133), Justin Lampe (165) and Clay Dent (197) remained unbeaten in the league.

DeBien is now 9-9 overall after his third straight win, while Lampe also posted his third in a row.

Allen has won four of his last five, and three of those wins have come by a team-bonus major decision.

The Mocs will wrestle at home Saturday when they host Campbell (noon) and Davidson (2 p.m.) at Maclellan Gym.
