The threat of inclement weather has forced some schedule changes for the Chattanooga Challenge, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga softball event originally scheduled to start Friday at Frost Stadium.

It will now start today when UTC hosts Tennessee Tech at 3 p.m. In other games set for today, Tennessee Tech will face Western Kentucky, which will then take on Sacred Heart.

With uncertainty about the weather Friday and beyond - one forecast listed an 80 percent chance of rain Friday and a 100 percent chance Saturday - the schedule will be fluid after today, though games were scheduled through Sunday.

The Mocs had to deal with weather-related schedule changes last weekend, with initial plans to participate in the Louisiana-Monroe scrapped. UTC instead went to Clermont, Fla., where it finished 2-2 in the Dot Richardson National Collegiate Softball Invitational.

Emma Sturdivant went 5-for-9 during the opening weekend, with both Brook Womack and Hayleigh Weissenbach batting better than .300 in the four games. Sophomore Celie Hudson and freshman Michayla Kelly-Harvey each earned a pitching win.
