KNOXVILLE - The Tennessee football program picked up its fifth commitment of the 2019 class with a four-star rating or better on Friday, as the Volunteers' recruiting momentum continues under first-year head coach Jeremy Pruitt.
Anthony Harris, from the eastern North Carolina town of Havelock, announced his commitment to Tennessee over Virginia Tech and North Carolina.
The four-star safety is Tennessee's first defensive back commitment in the 2019 class and ninth overall commitment. At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, Harris is considered the nation's 11th-best safety in the class, according to 247Sports.
Harris made 88 tackles as a junior at Havelock High School, according to MaxPreps, and caught 13 passes for 356 yards and three touchdowns. He also averaged 17.3 points per game in basketball this past season.
Havelock is the hometown of former Tennessee starting defensive tackle Kendal Vickers, who was a fifth-year senior and team leader this past season.
Landing Harris bumped Tennessee's 2019 recruiting class from 22nd to 18th in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings with six months remaining until the early signing period.
