Chad Williams learned about golf at a young age.

His grandfather taught him the game and gave a few pointers about how to swing a golf club.

As Williams grew older, he fell out of touch with the sport. He all but gave it up during his college days.

"I couldn't afford it," he said Monday while preparing to play 18 holes at Moccasin Bend Golf Course.

He can afford it now, so easily that he tries to play twice a week. He's still searching for the formula to a successful swing. Williams admitted that he occasionally breaks the score of 100 for 18 holes.

"If my grandfather were still around," he said, "I'm sure I'd be a better player."

Williams returned to the game last summer and realized what he'd been missing.

"Finally, I got me a good job and I can come out here and waste time and have fun," Williams said. "It's good to get outside and socialize. It's kind of like you get away from life and get to relax and have fun."
