Burris-Long leading Tennessee Women's Four-Ball at Lookout

Jenna Burris of Manchester and Middle Tennessee State teammate Hanley Long from Clarksville got a good start Tuesday on adding the 2017 Tennessee Women's Four-Ball golf championship to their 2015 title.

This one is at Lookout Mountain Golf Club, where Burris and Long combined for a 4-under-par 67 to take a four-stroke lead. In second place are last year's champions, Linda Mullins of Cleveland and Maggie Scott of Charleston.

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's coach Colette Murray and Evelyn Blackmon of Nashville are third at 72, and Chattanooga's Georgia McCravey and Lookout Mountain's Charlotte Grant are eighth at 76 with Crossville's Jean Kraft and Betsy Hale tied for ninth at 77.

Three sets of local golfers share 14th place at 79: Linda Carter and Susan Thurman of Hixson, Debbie Durham and Karen Burns of Signal Mountain and Kilbrey Fowler of Chattanooga with Carlene Ryon of Hixson. Among the duos tied for 17th at 80 are Darlene Werhnyak of Rossville and Meg Buchanan of Chattanooga, Kristy Snow of Hixson and Patty Donahoo of Chattanooga

The tournament concludes today.

Three lead TPGA

Jake Reeves from Knoxville and Brock Shafer from Olive Branch, Miss., are tied for first place with Johan Krok from the host club after two rounds of the 49th Tennessee PGA Professional Championship at Hideaway at Arrington.

The three are at 7-under-par 135 in the 54-hole competition that sends the five top finishers to the 2018 Professional National Championship. Oliver Peacock of Nashville is fourth at 136 and Brian Wood of Memphis is fifth at 137.

Jared Nelson from Bear Trace at Tims Ford is tied for ninth at 140, former UTC golfer Matthew Brock of Memphis is tied for 11th at 142 and Council Fire's Richard Rebne is tied for 16th at 143.
