RICHMOND, Va. - The Chattanooga Football Club's season came to an end Sunday night with a 1-0 loss to the RVA Football Club in the National Premier Soccer League South Conference championship game at Sports Backers Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, RVA took a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute with a goal by Josh Grant. It was the first goal allowed by CFC in more than 250 minutes of play. The club's previous two games were shutout wins, including 30 minutes of overtime last Saturday against Tulsa Athletics.

Chattanooga FC (7-2-3) was trying to make the NPSL championships for the second straight season and third time in the club's five seasons. CFC edged the Gulf Coast Texans for the South East Division title.

CFC goalkeeper Greg Hartley, who stopped three straight penalty kicks against Tulsa, saved another penalty strike in the 90th minute to keep it a 1-0 game.

RVA (8-0-2) advances to the NPSL championships in its first season in the league.

While CFC's offense struggled late in the season, scoring just two goals in regulation in the final five games, CFC's defense gave up one goal in the last three games and five goals in NPSL play all season.
