The Women's World Cup championship trophy will be on display at two Chattanooga locations Monday in advance of the visit of the United States soccer team that won it, and it will be on display at Finley Stadium starting at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday before the Americans play Costa Rica in a sold-out exhibition match as part of their victory tour. The trophy will be at the Waterhouse Pavilion downtown from noon to 2 p.m. Monday and at Hamilton Place mall near the Zales Jewelry story from 4 to 6. Not only can the public see the trophy, but fans are encouraged to have photos made with it. The U.S. team will practice in a public training session at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Finley. Admission is free. Fans should enter the stadium through the Foundry Plaza South Gate. Anyone wanting field-level access can join the U.S. Soccer Supporters Club Star Club ahead of time at ussoccer.com/supporters. Wednesday's match is at 6:30 and will be televised on ESPN2.

* Peyton McCollum scored an unassisted goal for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga soccer team, but Allie Svoboda scored two for Belmont and the host Bruins won 2-1 in their exhibition match Friday night in Nashville. Belmont outshot UTC 15-8, and three Mocs goalkeepers totaled six saves. UTC hosts Alabama-Huntsville in a scrimmage at 2 p.m. Sunday at Finley Stadium.

* The first-year Dalton State College soccer team will have some familiarity with tonight's opening scrimmage opponent at Lakeshore Park in Dalton. Four of the Roadrunners are former members of the Concorde Fire 18-under club team that will be on the pitch with them starting at 7. They will host Berry College in another scrimmage Wednesday at 4 p.m. The 24-man DSC roster is comprised almost equally of area players, Atlanta-area products and international players. "We're ready to get it going," coach Kerem Daser said in a school release. "This will be a testing ground for the regular season. Concorde is one of the top youth teams in the country, and Berry is one of NCAA Division III's best teams."

Baseball

* Jordan Delashmitt, a baseball and basketball captain his last two years at Silverdale Baptist Academy, where he also was a starter in football, will be concentrating on baseball as well as his studies at Covenant College. The 2015 SBA graduate has agreed to play for the mountaintop Scots and coach Doug Simons. Delashmitt batted .297 as a sophomore middle infielder in the 2013 season and .400 in the state tournament that year, and he led the Chattanooga area in the regular season in 2014 with a .481 average. The Seahawks' leadoff batter wound up with 42 runs, 23 walks and 20 stolen bases in 21 attempts. "We are very proud of Jordan, who has been an outstanding leader and student at SBA," athletic director Tim Couch said. Delashmitt graduated this spring with a 3.5 grade point average and a 24 ACT score. He played shortstop and batted leadoff for the Chattanooga Fury summer team, and he batted .407 with a .543 on-base percentage playing mostly second for the Exposure Baseball 18-under team last fall.

Softball

* Former University of Tennessee standouts Raven Chavanne and Lauren Gibson concluded their season with the United States national softball team with a 2-1, eight-inning win over Japan in the Japan Cup gold-medal game last Sunday. Chavanne was 2-for-4 and Gibson went 1-for-4 in that game, each with a stolen base. Chavanne led the U.S. team for the summer with a .458 batting average (22-for-48), and she had a home run, a double and six RBIs. Gibson hit .265 (9-for-34) with eight runs and four RBIs as the Americans won two tournaments and finished second in the Pan American Games.

Football

* In a minor league football battle of unbeatens, the Chattanooga-based Tennessee Cobras will host the Georgia Chargers at 5:30 p.m. today at Hutcheson Memorial Field in Rossville. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for ages 6-12, with 5 and under admitted free.
