Junior offensive lineman Corey Levin was a second-team selection and senior quarterback Jacob Huesman and junior defensive back Dee Virgin were third-team choices on the College Sports Madness Preseason All-American lists for the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision. It is the first national recognition for Virgin, a two-year starter at cornerback who led the Mocs with 12 passes defended last year. It is the second preseason All-America designation for Huesman, who has been the Southern Conference offensive player of the year the last two seasons. Levin, the league's reigning Jacobs Blocking Award winner, is a consensus national pick. Another Moc, sophomore safety Lucas Webb, was a third-team STATS FCS choice.

Volleyball

* The Bryan College Preseason Bash is loaded, as the host Lady Lions learned Friday when the volleyball tournament began in Dayton. Coastal Georgia, ranked 20th in the NAIA preseason poll, won 3-0 and No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan won 3-1 over Bryan, which faces No. 4 Viterbo at 1 p.m. today and "receiving votes" St. Catharine at 5. Coastal's winning set scores against the hosts were 25-18, 25-21, 25-17, and IWU's scores against Bryan were 25-14, 25-19, 14-25, 25-16.

Basketball

* Two players who have been playing nearby have joined the Lee University women's basketball program: 6-foot-5 Jess Shillito, a junior post from closed-down Tennessee Temple University, and 5-2 guard Jenna Scoggins from Cleveland High School. Shillito will be the tallest player ever for the Lady Flames, while Scoggins will be one of the shortest, but she started four years for the Lady Raiders and was the District 5-AAA player of the year after totaling 288 points, 112 assists and 64 steals as a senior. Shillito, who's from England, redshirted for Temple last winter. "We're excited to add Jess and Jenna to our roster," Lady Flames coach Marty Rowe said in a Lee posting. "They add needed depth to two different positions that we felt were essential to this year's team."
