* Two East Hamilton seniors recently signed letters of intent to continue their fastpitch softball careers at area community colleges. Outfielder Brie Levy is headed to Chattanooga State as a late addition to the 12 2015-16 signees the Lady Tigers already announced, while third baseman Maggie Woods is set for Motlow. Levy batted .451 with eight homers, nine other extra-base hits, 38 runs scored and 32 driven in last year for the Lady Hurricanes, while Woods hit .402 with 21 RBIs and 21 runs. "Maggie swings the bat well and does a good job at third base defensively," East Hamilton coach Norma Nelson said. "And she works really hard." Woods said she also considered Roane State but "really liked how open it was" at Motlow's campus, "and how nice the coach was." Levy, who has a 4.0 grade point average, also looked at Emory but "really liked the coaches -- the coaches are great -- and the fact it's close to my home" at Chattanooga State, "and they have a great program." Lady Tigers coach Blythe Golden, coming off a third-place national finish, said, "We're just excited to have Brie come on, especially being a local player. I think she'll help us offensively and get in and learn a lot and be able to contribute." Said Nelson: "She swings the bat really well and works really hard. She loves the game of softball."
