Chattanooga State trio earn NJCAA academic honors

Chattanooga State baseball players Brennan Swindoll and Ari Fabian and basketball player Fielder Dennis were among the record 1,936 athletes receiving NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards for the 2014-15 school year, out of 58,531 NJCAA athletes. Swindoll received a Superior award for having a grade point average of 3.8 to 3.99, and Fabian and Dennis were Exemplary honorees for 3.60-3.79 GPAs. "We are proud of the job that both Brennan and Ari did representing Chattanooga State as an institution and our program," Tigers baseball coach Greg Dennis said. "Both of these young men exemplify exactly what we desire out of our guys from a commitment standpoint both on the field and off of the field, and we had a number of guys that were right on the border of gaining these awards also. On a personal note, I am extremely proud of our middle son, Fielder, for doing a superb job academically as well as competing well for Coach Price's basketball team." Roane State basketball player Kassidi Freeman from Madisonville, Tenn., also received a Superior award, and softball players Kelsey Bowman from Plainview High and Kelsey Hayes from Sand Rock High in northeastern Alabama were among numerous Snead State honorees. Bowman received a Pinnacle award for a 4.0 GPA; Hayes got a Superior.
