The Lee University and Bryan College men's soccer teams played to a 0-0 nonconference tie through two overtimes Thursday night in Cleveland. Host Lee (5-2-1) had a slight edge in shots, 19-16, but led 10-5 in corner kicks. Flames goalkeeper Tom Halsall was credited with four saves; Alex Horton had six for Bryan (3-3-2), with Lee's Arturo Rocha putting four shots on goal.

Golf

* Todd Burgan of Powell, Tenn., leads by a stroke at 136 with one round to go in the 2015 Tennessee Mid-Amateur golf tournament at Ridgeway Country Club in Memphis. Ryan DuLaney of Memphis moved within a stroke of Burgan with a 66 in the second round, after Burgan and Lawrenceburg's Corey Rochelle (third at 138) had first-round 66s. Wes Farris of Cleveland is 10th at 143, Ken Lee of Manchester is tied for 13th at 146 and Tom Baird of Signal Mountain is 17th at 148.

* Led by senior All-American Emily Javadi from Chattanooga and Baylor School at No. 8 individually, the Sewanee women's golf team has a program-best ranking of No. 14 in NCAA Division III in the first Golfstat college rankings of the 2015-16 season. Freshman Meghan Symonds is 29th in the individual list. The Sewanee men are 46th.

Bowling

* Walker Valley High School is ranked No. 2 among Division I boys' teams in the Tennessee Prep Bowling preseason top 20, trailing Columbia Central, and Rhea County is fourth in the girls' preseason list with Tullahoma eighth, Walker Valley ninth, Soddy-Daisy 13th and Stone Memorial 19th. The Tullahoma boys are seventh with Rhea County 11th, McMinn County 15th and Soddy-Daisy 18th. McCallie and Girls Preparatory School each is ranked third in Division II.

General

* A memorial service for Terry Williams, who played basketball under coach Burr Elliott at Soddy-Daisy High School (class of 1977) and later worked with youth teams while beginning a business career, will be held this evening at 6 at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. "Terry has been my best friend since kindergarten," said Randy Walker, who played with Williams. "He was a top-notch person. He never met a stranger, and he would do anything for anybody."
