Lady Trojans post Katelyn Lee holds Alabama offer

FORT VALLEY, Ga. - Friday marked the end of a fairly good week for Katelyn Lee.

The Gordon Lee High School junior helped lead the Lady Trojans to a 57-49 Class A public school basketball semifinal win over Towns County with 11 points and 15 rebounds. It's the first time the program has made a final four appearance, but that's not the biggest surprise the 6-foot-4 post received this week.

Lee was offered a scholarship to the University of Alabama -- apparently for the second time.

"They offered me supposedly in the fall, but I didn't know they had offered me," Lee said with a laugh following Friday's game. "I went to a visit at their elite camp last summer and they said they wanted to be first on my list. I didn't take that as an offer. I thought they were just going to recruit me hard.

"This past weekend we went to a game and they asked me about the offer. I said, 'I didn't know you offered me.' They said they did and would love to have me there. It was a nice surprise."

Lee, however, did not commit and said she will take her time in making the biggest decision of her life.

"I have other options, and I'm one of those who wants to make the right decision. I don't want to be miserable wherever I go. I'll wait until this summer and see what my options are and go from there."
