UPDATED: Guarnier, Busche win USA Cycling road race titles in Chattanooga

They did it in different weather conditions and in different ways, but Megan Guarnier and Matthew Busche both finished on the top step of the podium as the men's and women's road race champions Monday at the Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Championships.

Guarnier held off Coryn Rivera in a sprint to the line in the morning under sunny skies, while Busche attacked late to win going away over second-place finisher Joseph Dombrowski in the rain later in the day.

Good crowds were seen throughout the route, especially on Lookout Mountain and on the Kent Street climb in North Chattanooga.
