Hunter Moore has spent 17 years of his life looking at the Scenic City of Chattanooga. He was ready for a change of scenery, and Central Arkansas provided that for him.

The 6-foot-2 East Hamilton quarterback recently committed to the Football Championship Subdivision program, choosing the Bears over a scholarship offer from Eastern Kentucky and interest also from Cincinnati, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina State and Northern Illinois.

Moore completed 58 percent of his passes for 1,577 yards and 15 touchdowns with only one interception in 2012, helping the Hurricanes to the Class 4A state quarterfinals.

The Bears are ranked No. 6 in the preseason FCS coaches' poll.

"It's a real nice school," Moore said of the Conway, Ark., program. "It's a six-hour drive, but when I visited, I liked the coaches and the facilities, and what the program has become. I've lived in Chattanooga my whole life. I was really wanting to see what was out there."

Moore becomes the second Hurricanes senior to commit to a Division I program prior to the 2013 season. Defensive back Tre Herndon recently committed to Vanderbilt.

"It's a big relief to get the process over with," Moore said. "It gives me a chance to focus on the season, and on our goal of getting a championship."
