Lady Chargers fall, 1-0, in state soccer

Chattanooga's venture into the TSSAA girls' soccer state tournament came to a close Thursday night as Chattanooga Christian fell to Christ Presbyterian Academy at Murfreesboro's Siegel Soccer Complex.

The Lady Chargers were shut out for the first time this season, losing 1-0 to CPA in the Class A/AA semifinals.

The winning goal came in the 52nd minute on a Sarah Sievertson shot off a deflection inside the box.

"We limited their chances, but that shot spun strangely and stayed low at the far post," Lady Chargers coach Cal Sneller said. "CPA played well, allowing us very few opportunities."

CCS actually outshot CPA 7-6. Each keeper, CCS's Taylor Price and CPA's Kayla Wegner, was credited with three saves.

"We have a young group, so the future looks good, but we will miss our seniors," Sneller said.

Notre Dame, also in A/AA, and AAA competitor McMinn County were eliminated in quarterfinal matches Wednesday.
