After a slow start in its football season opener last week, Soddy-Daisy was at full speed Friday night at East Hamilton.

The Trojans dominated in a 49-14 win that snapped a four-game skid against the Hurricanes.

Brandon Davis epitomized his team's control on both sides of the ball, scoring four touchdowns - two on offense and two on defense - to help Soddy-Daisy improve to 2-0.

"I was just having a good game tonight," Davis said. "I had a good mindset all day today and thought about how I was going to execute in the game. They beat us four years in a row, and we were able to get some revenge."

Davis scored twice on the ground and added interception returns of 42 and 95 yards with a simple formula on defense.

"I look for the ball and go up for it," he said. "When I caught it, I thought, 'It's got to be a pick-six.'"

East Hamilton (1-1) got on the board first with Drako Wise's 6-yard run with 8:04 to go in the first quarter, but it was all Soddy-Daisy from there.

Hayden Maynor knotted the score with a 6-yard run of his own, and Ty Boeck added a 20-yard scamper to make it 14-7.

The Trojans pulled away in the second quarter with an interception return and 54-yard run from Davis. Gavin Chambers added a 19-yard passing touchdown to Hunter Burke.

Soddy-Daisy took a 35-7 advantage into the break.

"Usually, you see the biggest jump from week one to week two," Trojans coach Justin Barnes said. "You kind of get that nervousness out, and our guys came out and executed in that first half nearly to perfection."

Soddy-Daisy continued to stall the East Hamilton offense, stuffing the run and putting pressure on the quarterback. The Trojans forced three interceptions and held the Hurricanes to 132 yards on the ground, most of which came on Devontay Tipton's 78-yard score in the fourth quarter.

"They're traditionally a power team that likes to run it down your throat, but we were able to dominate on both sides of the line and set the tone," Barnes said. "We kept them in some third-and-longs and gave our guys like Brandon a chance to make things happen."

Davis's 9-yard run and second interception return made it 49-7 and started a running clock for the remainder of the game. He finished with 86 yards on nine touches.

Tipton's long score in the fourth quarter helped him pace the Hurricanes' rushing attack with 110 yards.
