LookoutsFor seven full innings, the Chattanooga Lookouts and Tennessee Smokies put on a show for the 3,271 fans in attendance Saturday night at AT&T Field. Then for another 30 minutes, they put on another show - only this time the entertainment was watching the players slide across the tarp.
The game went into a rain delay and was eventually halted going into the eighth inning with the teams tied at 8. They will completed that suspended contest at 1:15 this afternoon, followed by the game that already was scheduled for 2:15.
The host Lookouts fell behind by seven runs early but fought back.
The Smokies (12-16 second half) got three runs in the second inning on consecutive doubles by Greg Rohan, Michael Burgess and Nate Samson. They added two in the third inning and three in the fourth, chasing Lookouts starting pitcher Zach Lee in the process.
The Lookouts (17-11) started their comeback in the bottom of the fifth, sending 10 batters to the plate in scoring six runs. Rafael Ynoa started the scoring with a RBI single, and then Nick Buss had a two-run triple. After another RBI single by Luis Nunez, Kyle Russell hit a two-run home run to trim the once seven-run deficit to 7-6.
Chattanooga proceeded to tie the game in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Nunez, but the following inning, the Smokies' Nelson Perez homered to give Tennessee the lead yet again. In the bottom half of the seventh, Blake Smith responded with a home run of his own to tie the game anew.
Geison Aguasviva was the Lookouts' pitcher when play was suspended, with the Smokies' Juan Apocada due up first in the top of the eighth.
Ethan Martin (7-5, 3.10 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts in the full game.
