Huntsville starting pitcher Tyler Cravy allowed one run on four hits in seven innings Saturday night to pace the Stars to a 5-2 series-opening win over the Chattanooga Lookouts at AT&T Field.
Cravy racked up nine strikeouts in front of the announced crowd of 3,851.
The Stars scored two runs in the first inning, getting jumpstarted with Nick Ramirez's triple to center field and a walk by Jason Rogers. Mitch Haniger singled to center to score Ramirez, and Kentrall Davis singled to center to score Rogers.
Ramirez homered to right in the third inning to put Huntsville up 3-0. He singled in the eighth to finish 3-for-4 and a double shy of hitting for the cycle.
The Lookouts pulled within 3-1 in the sixth inning when J.D. Boscan led off with a double to center and scored on Darnell Sweeney's single to right.
Chattanooga dropped to 14-21 and 9 1/2 games back of the Stars (24-12) in the Southern League's North Division.
