Wilkerson leads Lookouts past Smokies, 4-3

The Chattanooga Lookouts edged the visiting Tennessee Smokies 4-3 in Southern League baseball Tuesday night at AT&T Field.

The Lookouts rallied from an early 2-0 hole and received three innings of shutout relief from Alex Wimmers in earning their 26th second-half victory after winning the first-half North Division title.

Shannon Wilkerson was 2-for-3, batting in the Lookouts' first run on a bunt in the third inning and tying the game at 3 with an RBI triple in the seventh. Levi Michael followed fielder's choice to plate Wilkerson with the eventual winning run.

Wimmers (8-4) allowed three hits and struck out two in relief of starter Brett Lee, who allowed two earned runs and gave up eight hits in six innings. The Lookouts were outhit 11-7 and four Smokies - Albert Almora Jr., Wilson Contrares, Taylor Davis and Jonathan Mota - had two hits each.

Game four of the series is tonight at AT&T Field at 7:15. Aaron Slegers (1-2, 3.66 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts against Tennessee's Ryan Williams (8-2, 3.12).
