German carmaker Volkswagen AG's sales rose about 15 percent to 3.5 million cars worldwide during the first half of 2010, according to Dow Jones.
Chief Executive Officer Martin Winterkorn said, however, the end of government car-scrapping incentives have put the brakes on the company's steep rise in car sales, which will be slower in the second half of the year.
Intergraph sells for $2.1 billion
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Intergraph Corp., a privately held Alabama software maker, says it has agreed to be acquired by Sweden's Hexagon AB for about $2.1 billion.
The deal was announced Wednesday.
Intergraph, based in Huntsville, makes software that allows government agencies and businesses to produce maps, designs and other visual representations. It was acquired in 2006 by an investor group. It employs more than 4,000 people.
Hexagon AB is a leading global measurement technology company. It plans to operate Intergraph as a separate division under the Intergraph name and brand.
The deal requires regulatory approval but the companies expect to complete it by the end of the year.
