Persons interested in applying for jobs with Volkswagen contractor Aerotek may apply for work during another job fair today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive.

The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 4-hour event today to help fill immediate openings at Aerotek, some of which could lead to jobs with Volkswagen of America. Persons may find out more and also apply online at www.aerotektn.com.

Starting pay for the production jobs is $13 an hour with bonuses and pay rate increases every six months. Today's job fair is one of seven Aerotek is holding this summer to help VW staff up for production of its second vehicle line, a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) that will be made in Chattanooga along with the VW Passat.

A.J. Harris of Aerotek said earlier this summer that the company wants to hire 900 to 1,200 more employees for VW.

"It's all production [employees]," he said. "It's launching the new SUV."

Production employees who want to work at VW are first employed for a period to time by Aerotek before later being brought on by the automaker.

VW is spending $900 million, including $600 million in Tennessee, to expand its Chattanooga factory. The German automaker also said it planned to eventually add 2,000 more employees to its workforce, including at least 200 at its new national engineering and planning center.
