Thomas Hickey

DUNLAP Thomas Avery Hickey, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at his home in Dunlap.Mr. Hickey was born Oct. 29, 1923 and resided in Sequatchie County his entire life. He was a member of Flat Mountain Baptist Church. He was a building contractor and was Sequatchie County Sheriff 1974-1982. He was president of Dunlap Lions Club 1973-1974. He retired from his own Security Service Co. with SVC Corporation.Preceded in death by parents, James Rober and Pearl Standifer Hickey; son, Michael Eugene Hickey; brothers, Charles and Edgar Hickey; sisters, Cecile Brock Goolsby, Susella Seals and Geneva Custer.He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Gwen Clark Hickey; son Thomas Ray Hickey; daughter, Brenda (Denton) Tate, all of Dunlap; grandchildren, Dan (Jerrie) Hickey, Andrea Hickey, Renea Boyd, Brian (Connie) Boyd, Gina Boyd, Nathan Hickey, Amy Hickey; 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday in Ewton Funeral Home chapel with Brother Lanny Tate officiating.Burial in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens.Visitation; 3-8 p.m. CDT today and Wednesday 8 a.m.-1 p.m. CDT.Online guestbook ay www.ewtonfuneralhome.com.Arrangements by Ewton Funeral Home, 6936 Highway 28, Dunlap, TN 37327.
