Thelma H. Whitaker, 92, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at her home.Miss Whitaker was a retired teacher with Chattanooga Public Schools and a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.Survivors include nieces, Gabrielle and Georgeanna Johnson, both of Knoxville; nephew, Normal Jones Jr., of California.Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Warren Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Terrance Mayes officiating.Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. The Omega Omega Ceremony will be held immediately following the family hour at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
