Jean Brooks

Iva Jean Ball Brooks, 84, of Ooltewah, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 4, 2011.She left her beloved Ooltewah home of 84 years and has gone on an extended trip to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born and raised in downtown Ooltewah and was a member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church for 71 years. Jean, retired from the Hamilton County Department of Education where she spent her days at Ooltewah High School which she loved. Oh! How she loved those children.She was the daughter of the late Shorty and Lorene Ball and was preceded in death by her beloved brother, A.C. "Bud" Ball; and a very special aunt, Elizabeth Watts Wolfe.Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Jimmy Flynn Brooks; daughter, Mary Flynn (Harold) Hyde; son, Mike (Candy) Brooks, all of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Jimmy and Christie Hood, Steven Hood, Robbin and Todd Faulk, Wendy and Marcus Evans, Nathan and Darryth Hood;great-grandchildren, Spencer, Savannah, Madison, Megan and Gracie Hood, Alex and Andy Faulk; brother, Bill (Aileene) Ball; sister, Marilyn (James) Fain; sisters-in-law, June Ball and Betty Brooks; special friends, Jean Spraggins, Nina Lee Fitzgerald and Jean Hampton; several nieces and nephews and cousins.Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Ooltewah Cemetery with the Rev. Amy Nutt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O.
