Richard Moreno

Richard L. Moreno, 67, recently of Chattanooga,and formerly of Portland, Maine for 38 years passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving wife, Cherry; children, Ross Moreno of Chicago and Brooke Moreno, of American Samoa; his sister, Jeanie Geraci, of Chattanooga and his sister, Susan Miron, of New Orleans, La.Rich was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bootsie Moreno, of New Orleans.Rich served with pride in the U.S. Navy, as a flight engineer for 5 years on P3 Orion airplanes, He was last stationed at the Brunswick, Maine Naval Air Station. He was employed in construction for a time, maintenance for a local school where the children called him "Mr. Fix-It," and most recently retired from The Portland Jetport as an electrician, where he especially liked guiding all of the New England tourists.He loved Maine living, camping, heavy duty equipment, tractors, bucket loaders, snowplows and boats. One joy in his life was building a 35' Ford hotrod and the camaraderie of friends at local car shows.Rich is a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Soddy-Daisy.A funeral mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Monday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. with Monsignor Al Humbrecht celebrant. Following the service a reception will be held in the church hall.The family will receive friends today, Feb. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choosing or: Camp Sunshine, 35 Acadia Rd.
