James Burton "J.B." James, 81, of Birchwood, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home. He was born Sept. 17, 1931 in Chattanooga to the late Pearson and Dell Burton James and was also preceded in death by his grandson, Phillip James.He was a resident of Chattanooga for many years before moving to Birchwood seven years ago. He graduated from City High School in Chattanooga and was the former owner of East Chattanooga Grocery. He retired from the Hamilton County School system as a bus driver and was also a commercial fisherman. JB was an accomplished bluegrass fiddler.J.B. is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dora "Dody" (Morrison) James, of Birchwood; three sons, Edward F. (Patsy) James, of Birchwood, Dennis L. (Joy) James, of Harrison and J.P. (Alicia) James, of Ider, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.Funeral services for J.B. will be held 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Billy Lowery officiating.
