Florence Taylor

SCOTTSBORO Florence Evelyn Taylor passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at Highland Nursing Home in Scottsboro Ala. after a prolonged illness, she was 91 years old. She was born in Bridgeport Township, Lawrence County Ill. on January 7, 1921. She is survived by: son, Daniel Taylor and daughter-in-law Laurie Taylor, of Athens, Ala.; daughter, Carmen Stover and son-in-law Eugene Stover, of Hixson Tenn.; former daughter-in-law, Irene Taylor, of Harvest, Ala.; grandchildren, Leslie Stover, of Hixson Tn., and Elizabeth Taylor, of Harvest Ala.; great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Stover, of Hixson Tn.; nephew Jesse Cox, of Olney Ill., and niece Ana Dunk, of Brighton Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd "Duke" Taylor; her parents, Jesse and Winona Farlow; and Sisters Leona Cox and Hannah Gray. Florence played the piano at church prior to her illness that left her unable to play and enjoyed her family visits and flower garden. She and her husband Duke lived on Skyline Mountain near the Letcher and Pleasant Grove communities prior to her illness and subsequent admittance to the nursing home. Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curan Teague officiating. Pallbearers are Leslie Stover, and Church friends from Letcher Church of God. Interment will be at City Cemetery Scottsboro.
