Elmaise Register

FRANKLIN SPRINGS Elmaise T. Register, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 12, 2012, after a lengthy battle of cancer.She was raised in Quincy, Fla., but lived in Franklin Springs, Ga., at the time of her passing. She had previously lived on Signal Mountain, as well as in South Africa and New Mexico while traveling with her husband of almost 64 years, Levon Calvin Register who retired from Arthur Anderson & Co.Mrs. Register attended Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, was a DAR member of the Moccasin Bend Chapter and an avid antique dealer/collector along with her husband. More importantly, she was the matriarch of the Register family and she was loved and adored by all who ever met her.Survivors include her husband, Levon C. Register; four children, Levon (Ruth) Register II, of Colbert, Ga., Dan (Sarah) Register, of Havana, Fla., Vicki (Skip) Register Eldredge, of Athens, Ga., and Bette (Jamey) Register Rogers, of Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Cece Staley and Betty Turnage, both of Orange Park, Fla.Mrs. Register was predeceased by her mother and father, Nellie Turnage and Rex E. Turnage; and sister, Joanne Babski.Her service and private burial were held Saturday, July 14, 2012, in Franklin Springs, Ga., where her seven grandsons, Levon III, Ben and Drew Register, Daniel and David Register, Nathan Eldredge and Chris Rogers, lovingly escorted their Memas casket along with one of her great grandsons, Alexander T. Moyer, serving as a junior pallbearer upon request of his "B" (Bette). One granddaughter living locally is Elizabeth (Darren) Rogers Moyer.Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys Hospice House, 1660 Jennings Mill Road, Bogart, GA 30662 or condolences to the family at 477 Bradshaw Dr., Royston, GA 30662.Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
