SOUTH PITTSBURG John Daniel Lankford, 86, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Grandview Medical Center.He was born July 24, 2012, He was preceded in death by mother, Mae Lankford; daughter, Janice Lankford; and sister, Virginia Hall.Mr. Lankford was a WWII veteran serving in the Army. He was a retired truck driver after driving 22 years. He also operated a bicycle shop for many years in South Pittsburg. Originally from Fort Payne he resided in South Pittsburg. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and of Baptist faith.Survivors wife of 63 years, Betty Lankford; daughter, Burma (Ray) Powers; grandchildren, Jeff and Brett Powers; several nieces and nephews.Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Burt Chapel, Fort Payne with Rev.
