Douglas Burns

Douglas C. Burns, 85, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012.He served during WWII in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific on the USS Lawrence. Was retired from the U.S. Postal Service with over 40 years of service, and was a life-long member of the NALC and VFW.Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Burns; daughters, Rebecca (John) Hooper, of Chattanooga, Elizabeth Burns, of Norfolk, Va., and Carla (Horace) Silas, of Dumfries, Va.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Ken Clark officiating.Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family.Family and friends will assemble at the Office/Admin Bldg in the Cemetery at 10:15 a.m.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Dr., Chattanooga, TN 37416The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road.
