Charles Slaven

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN Charles Anthony "Tony" Slaven, 61, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012.He was born in Chickamauga, Ga., to the late Charles Edison and Vera Mae Boss Slaven. He graduated from Rossville High School Class of 1969. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969 from 1976. He was of the Baptist faith. He worked at Wheelen Foundry for 28 years as a mechanic. He also worked several years for Synthetic Industries. He enjoyed being an outdoorsman, such as coon and deer hunting, fishing and photography. He was an avid Georgia Bulldawg and Atlanta Braves fan. He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen and Deborah Slaven, Alan and Joy Slaven and Clifford L. Slaven, all of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. today and Wednesday morning after 10 a.m. until the service.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2012, in the funeral home chapel with ministers: Vernon Jones, Gene Strauss and Larry Gordy.Burial will follow in Paynes Gap Cemetery, Lookout Mountain, Ga.Online register book at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com.Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Homes, Chickamauga Chapel.
