Claudie Ray "Shorty" Jared, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012. A native of Lois, Tenn., he has been a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 59 years and was the owner and operator of the Pioneer Building Barber Shop. He was a member of the Chattanooga Quarterback Club and was a longtime U.T.C. Mocs fan. He was also a member of Silverdale Baptist Church.A son of the late Gordon and Rilda Copeland Jared he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Vivian Fanning Jared. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Jared Clark, Lake Wylie, S.C., and Jan Jared Hammontree and husband, Cecil, Soddy-Daisy; three grandchildren, Eddie Clark, Casey (Jen) Hammontree and Kenny (Lindsay) Hammontree; five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Will, Jackson, Alex and Clara Hammontree; sister, Mary (Henry) Jared Price, Atlanta; two brothers, Copeland (Jean) Jared and Edward (Wanda) Jare, all of Cookeville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.The family would like to give a special thank you to Don, Rhonda, Tyra, Tina, Nikki and Amanda.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Eddie Wilson officiating.Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, Tenn. at 4 p.m. (EST) Friday.Active pallbearers will be, Don Lastine, Ron Foley, Craig Wandelt, Alex Emerson, David Binder and Ernie Leonard. Honorary pallbearers will be, P.W. Holdridge, Allen Fryar, Billy Perry, Joe Decosimo, Don McDade, Buddy McDonough, Art Dickerson and Gracie Lastine.Memorial contributions may be made to the Siskin Childrens Institute at siskin.org or to Bethel Bible Village at bbv.org.The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
