Steve Lee

Stephen Porter "Steve" Lee, 69, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in a local hospital.Born Aug. 14, 1942 in Springfield, Ohio he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with his parents, Joseph Speck Lee and Catherine Louise Lee (nee Payne) at age 4. Steve has made Fort Lauderdale part of his life ever since. He graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School the Flying Ls in 1961. After one year of junior college he went to the University of Florida and became a lifelong "Gator". In the late 70s he enjoyed being involved with the Little Yankee Football League being a head coach of the Fort Lauderdale Colonels. Steve was a member of a Scottish Marching Band as a drummer and loved driving in the Sebring Road Races among other courses. He enjoyed deep sea fishing in the Florida Keys and the Bahamas and also loved his 1981 silver Corvette Stingray. An avid golfer, he played at Arrowhead Golf Club in Fort Lauderdale and at Valleybrook Golf Club in Hixson. Steve joined the masonic lodge through the Seminole Lodge now currently the Doric Lodge #140 in Fort Lauderdale. He was a 32-degree mason in the Scottish Rite and a member of the Alhambra Shrine. Steve served in the U.S. Air Force.Survivors include his wife, Dianne Lee; sister, Judi Lee, of New Carlisle, Ohio; nephews, Joe and Mark Lee, of Ohio; cousins, Fred Guy, of Houston, Texas, Jeanette Robinson, of San Diego, Calif., and Diana Bellbrook, of Dayton, Ohjio.Services will be at noon Monday, May 21, 2012, in the funeral home chapel.Burial will be private.Visitation is Monday from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Institute at www.heart.org or the Shriners Hospital in Tampa, Fla., at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.Condolences and memories may be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.Arrangements are by Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, 8852 Dayton Pike Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379.
