Ruby Caplenor

LEBANON Ruby Ray Caplenor, 92, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Southern Manor Assisted Living.Born Dec. 10, 1919, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Rhea F. and Helen Marler McDaniel. She is now reunited with her husband of 50 years, Ray Edwin Caplenor, who left this world 21 years ago. The world lost a wonderful woman. God used Ruby Ray to bless hundreds of people. She was the assistant to Dr. Sam McFarland for many years. She was a member of Highland Heights Church of Christ for over 60 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy McDaniel.She was a loving "Ba" and "G-ba", friend and wonderful Christian example for all those around her. She loved cooking and feeding those who visited, who were sick, or who had lost loved ones. She loved sewing and knitting in younger years. She will be remembered and missed by many as she gave love and was loved.She is survived by two sons, Jeff (Suzanne) Caplenor, of Signal Mountain, and Jere (Karen) Caplenor, of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Lipscomb, of Birmingham, Ala., Molly Rhea Caplenor of Atlanta, Ga., Benjamin (Lea) Caplenor and Nicklus (Dorothy) Caplenor, all of Chattanooga; six great-grandchildren, Anniston, Katy Grace and William Jefferson "Bo" Lipscomb, of Birmingham, Regan and Reed Caplenor and Samuel Henry Caplenor, all of Chattanooga; sister, Barbara Gilbert, of Lebanon; brother, Don (Barbara) McDaniel, of Murfreesboro; and many nieces and nephews.Family wishes to express thanks to all the wonderful staff at Southern Manor Assisted Living and Odyssey Health Care for insuring her last years were pleasant ones. Also thanks to Mary Qualls who was a special friend.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Southern Manor Assisted Living.Funeral services for are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Brother Michael Grooms officiating.Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.Visitation after 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Ligon & Bobo.Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home of Lebanon in charge of arrangements.
