Arvel Bowman

Sr.Arvel Allen "Abe" Bowman Sr., 92, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Standifer Place.Mr. Bowman was a veteran of the United States Army; he served tours, during WWII, in both Italy and Africa. He was a longtime member of Morris Hill Baptist Church. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Bowman was a mechanic at Amos and Andy Buick. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his son, Arvel Allen Bowman Jr.; and by his grandson, Daniel Anthony Shelton. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Betty Jackson Bowman; his daughter, Brenda (Tony) Shelton; his daughter-in-law, Linda Bowman Lawson; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted today, Nov. 19 at Morris Hill Baptist Church, 1804 Morris Hill Road, Chattanooga. Mr. Bowmans body will lie in state at the church today from noon until the funeral at 1 p.m.Committal services will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Rev.
