CLEVELAND Dowe N. Ownby, 79, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was born July 11, 1933, in Bradley County. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He worked for Burlington Industries and retired from M&M Mars. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ethel Brackin Ownby; son, Steven Neil Ownby; sister, Diciephine Ownby; and brother, Sherrell Ownby.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy Brown Ownby, of Cleveland; son, John and wife, Robin Ownby, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Sarah and Josh Mullis, of Cleveland, Brian Ownby, of Murfreesboro and Chris and Lindsey Ownby, of Cleveland; great-grandchild, Isaac Ownby, of Cleveland; one sister, Myrtle Ownby and husband, Ray; two brothers, Adrian Ownby and wife, Diane, and Richard Ownby, all of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Mary Selma Ownby, of Knoxville and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastors Lu Crandall and Tom Seay officiating.Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
