Flossie Jeffery

Flossie Mae Jeffery, 93, of Harrison, passed away October 12, 2012 at Morning Point Alzheimer's Memory Care Facility.Mrs. Jeffery was born Jan. 27, 1918 in Sawyerville, Ala., to the late James Calvin and Bessie Headrick.She was a member of Chamberlain Memorial Baptist Church where she had taught the children's Sunday school for many years. She along with her late husband, J.P. enjoyed serving as greeters on Sundays, welcoming those to church. She loved visiting the sick and taking part in the WMU Womens group and spending time with her Sunday School class "buddies".Mrs. Jeffery loved her family and was a terrific mother, housewife, who kept an immaculate home. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having people visit and eat in her home. She enjoyed working in her yard, most especially her flowers-her favorite being roses.Flossie was the oldest of six children. In 1936, after the death of her mother, she became mother to her two sisters and three brothers. She was preceded in death in 2006 by her husband of 72 years, John Paul "J.P." Jeffery; her daughter who died at birth; sisters, Aline Wills, Kathryn Branum; her brothers, Robert Lee Headrick, John Henry Headrick and Paul Glen Headrick.Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, James E. "Jeff" and Martha Jeffery, Harrison; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Don Givens officiating.
