Arie Harris

Arie Eberhardt Harris, 96, passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at a local healthcare facility. She was born Oct. 3, 1916 to the late Samuel and Willie Seals Eberhardt in Star, S.C.She was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. H.H. Hubbard. She was a member of the Betty Patterson Sunday School Class, the Mary Mother Missionary Circle and a member of the Family Ministry No. 1. Mrs. Harris was a retiree of the Newton Community Center after serving 45 years as a cook.She was one of eight children all of whom preceded her in death.Her husband, James Henry Harris, also preceded in death; as well as her parents.She is survived by her loving and caring family; her daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Johnny Holloway, of Chattanooga; four grandsons, Jay (Vanessa) Holloway, of Chattanooga, Juan (Aisha) Holloway, of Antioch, Tenn., Jeffery (Tiffany) Holloway, of Chattanooga and Jeremy (NeKeya) Holloway, of Atlanta, Ga.; 15 great-granddaughters; two great-grandson; three nieces, Bettye J. Holloway, Joan F. Eberhardt, both of Chattanooga and Albirda Eberhardt, of Oakland, Calif.; 15 great-nieces and nephews; two nephews, Paul Eberhardt Jr. and Anthony P. Dixson, of Chattanooga; several cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Mission & Benevolent Fund of Second Missionary Baptist Church.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at 2nd Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul A. McDaniel officiating.Interment in Highland Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 78 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
