Marcie Sumerel

Marcelene "Marcie" Sumerel 79, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2013, at a local hospital.She was the daughter of the late O.M. and Zelma Sumerel.Marcie retired after working several years in medical records. She attended Red Bank Church of Christ. Marcie was a devoted mother and Christian woman who was dedicated to teaching through World Bible School since her retirement all over the world and especially in Africa.She is survived by her children, Steve (Jennie) Berry and Kathy (David) Hays; grandchildren, Blake (Megan) Hays, Rachel (Chris) Smith, Micah (Trent) Mynatt, Meredith and Taylor Berry; two great-grandchildren, Mary Vivan and Chloe Hays; brother, Jerry Sumerel; sisters, Fay Dodd, Martha Williams and Carole Latham; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday at the North Chapel.Services for Marcie will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday at the North Chapel with Minister Steve Lusk officiating.Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marcies name to the World Bible School Fund at Red Bank Church of Christ, 3600 Dayton Blvd., Red Bank, TN 37415.Please share your thoughts and memories online at www.ChattanoogaNorthChapel.com.Arrangements by Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
