Lauren Ling

Lauren ODell Ling died Saturday, April 6, 2013, after a brief illness.She was born March 25, 1955 ,in Chattanooga. She grew up on Lookout Mountain and was educated at Girls Preparatory School where she graduated in 1974. She attended The University of Georgia.She was married to Dr Brian Ling and they lived in Asheville, N.C. Lauren recently moved back to Chattanooga and shortly discovered she had cancer. Lauren loved tennis and was nationally ranked as a junior. Later, she shot skeet, was a state champion and Sports Illustrated Hall of Fame inductee- as well as a Junior Runner up World Champion. She also enjoyed shooting sporting clays.She loved art throughout her life and was always learning new skills in Photography, Drawing, Collage and Jewelry Design. She was preceded in death by her father, John Edward ODell; her brother, John Lasley, ODell; and Dr. Brian Ling.She is survived by her daughter, Logan A. Ling; her mother, Elaine Lasley ODell, Lookout Mountain; three sisters, Anne O. Faulk, Charlotte "Betsy" O. (William) Scanlan, Katherine O. (Joseph) Bailey; several nieces and nephews, Hamilton Faulk, R. Kingsley Brock, John K. Brock, Katherine M. Brock, Thomas ODell, Cameron ODell, Betsy Bailey, Will Bailey, Brandon Miller; as well as her childhood nurse Francis Martin.Services will be held at St. Pauls Episcopal Church with visitation at 2 p.m. and the service following at 3 p.m. today, April 9.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the book of Remembrance St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 305 W. Seventh St. at Pine, Chattanooga, TN 37402.Arrangements are by Wann Funeral Home & Cremation Center, St. Elmo.
